The ABC of PDF with iText: PDF Syntax Essentials (Bruno Lowagie)

Bruno Lowagie originally developed the Java package known as iText, which enables users to produce, read, and alter PDF files. This book will demonstrate how to use iText to make PDF files.

The author's previous books, "Create your PDFs with iText," "Update your PDFs with iText," and "Sign your PDFs with iText," are vade mecums for this one.

When someone questioned "why can't I use PDF as a format for editing documents" or wished to use a feature that wasn't supported out of the box, we used to point them to ISO-32000.

While it wasn't exactly our objective, saying "read the specs" was a conversation killer because the document is more than a thousand pages long. I'd like to provide a brief introduction to the syntax of the Portable Document Format in this brief book. Although it isn't the final word, it should be enough to get you through the other iText volumes.
