Principles of Geographic Information Systems (GIS): an Introductory Textbook (O. Huisman, et al)

This book is meant to give first- or second-year GIS students a strong foundation in both GIS ideas and GIS application. GIS theory and practical applications are carefully balanced in Introduction to GIS.

The majority of the chapter teaches students about GIS terminology and concepts and explains how each one fits into a full GIS system. Each chapter concludes with an application part that includes 2–7 challenges that give students real-world GIS exercises and the information they need to solve the problems.
