Mining the Web: Discovering Knowledge from Hypertext Data (Soumen Chakrabarti)

This is the first book that solely discusses methods for drawing knowledge from the massive amount of unstructured Web data. extending a preliminary analysis of infrastructure-related concerns, such as Web crawling and indexing.

The author especially looks at low-level machine learning methods in relation to Web mining difficulties. The remainder of the book is then devoted to applications that combine infrastructure and analysis to apply machine learning to regularly collected and stored data. Here, the emphasis is on outcomes, including the applications' advantages and disadvantages as well as their potential to serve as building blocks for future development.

Readers will get the theoretical and practical understanding they need to contribute to the Web mining effort through the author's careful, critical, and forward-looking work.
