Genetic Algorithms in Applications (Rustem Popa)

The reader is guided step-by-step through the new and quickly developing topic of genetic algorithms in this well-organized work, starting with a discussion of numerical optimization and moving on to a survey of the most recent expansions to genetic algorithms and applications.

In the family of evolutionary algorithms, which seek solutions to optimization problems by "evolving" better and better solutions, genetic algorithms (GAs) are one of the various methodologies. In the fields of science, engineering, business, and social sciences, genetic algorithms have been used.

There are five divisions and 16 chapters in this book. Applications for automatic control are covered in the first portion, resource scheduling is covered in the second section, and electrical and electronic engineering applications are covered in the third section. Character recognition and multi-criteria classification are illustrated in the following part, while trading systems are covered in the final one.

Engineers and scientists in a variety of fields of expertise who need to employ optimization approaches in their work and maybe utilizing Genetic Algorithms in their applications for the first time may find these evolutionary strategies valuable. Many additional people who are learning about genetic algorithms may find these applications helpful.
