The Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT), discrete convolution, and, in particular, the quick algorithms to calculate them, are the main topics of this book. Since the inception of digital signal processing, these issues have been at the forefront, and fresh developments in hardware, theory, and applications keep them relevant and fascinating.

It creates a very broad and effective explanation of quick methods to compute the discrete Fourier transform using an index map, a polynomial decomposition, an operator factorization, and a conversion to a filter (DFT). Chapters by Selesnick, Pueschel, and Johnson are included, as well as computer programs, and the work of Winograd is discussed.

About the Authors
After receiving his Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1965, C. Sidney Burrus joined the Rice University faculty and is currently a Research Professor in ECE.
