This fourth edition has been updated and revised to reflect current trends and technologies, including the growing significance of energy efficiency and thermal issues, the evolution of single-core processors to multi-core processors, the importance of cyber-physical systems (CPS) and the Internet of things (IoT).

About the Authors
Dr. Peter Marwedel pursued a physics degree at the University of Kiel in Germany. In 1974, he earned his Ph.D. in that field. He has served as vice-chair of the SFB 876 collaborative research center, which focuses on the resource-efficient analysis of enormous data sets, since 2011. Dr. Marwedel is a Fellow of the IEEE.
