This book is a compilation of several points of view on contemporary issues and fundamental bioinformatics ideas.

Young researchers who are interested in current work in computational biology and bioinformatics, such as next-generation sequencing, transcriptional analysis, and drug design, as well as scientists who are interested in basic bioinformatics skills like data mining, data integration, sequence analysis, and gene expression analysis, will find this book useful. To keep up with the pace of in silico development of life science, new bioinformatic techniques emerge in response to the rapid development of new technology in molecular biology.

Part of the focus of this book is on these novel methods and how they are used in biomedical research. These methods could help identify some illnesses and cellular problems and reduce the number of tests needed to provide a medical diagnosis.

Biotechnologist Dr. Mahmood A. Mahdavi has a background in computational biology and bioinformatics. He is currently associated with the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad in Iran's department of chemical engineering.
