Applications of Spatial Statistics (Ming-Chih Hung)

Numerous environmental studies have extensively utilized spatial statistics. In this book, recent research on the use of spatial statistics in areas including demographics, transportation, precision agriculture, and ecology is collected.

Different parts of spatial statistics are needed for various topics. The relationship between data and locations is illustrated via visualization in the form of maps, drawings, and images in addition to quantitative statements from statistics and tests.

Researchers who are interested in using statistics to analyze spatial data will find this book useful, as would graduate students who are already familiar with statistics and wish to investigate how it might be used to analyze spatial data. Commercial software reduces the processing proceeds to a few mouse clicks, so one should focus more on the justification for employing spatial statistics as well as the interpretation and evaluation of the outcomes. GIScience has proven to be a useful tool for visualizing geographic data, and it is important to employ this technology in the interpretation and evaluation of the findings.

The professor of geography and GIScience at Northwest Missouri State University is Dr. Ming-Chih Hung. His research focuses on the application of GIScience in urban settings. He is interested in environmental problems and precision agriculture in addition to urban regions.
